FEB UNS Hosts General Lecture with BPK RI, Welcoming Distinguished Alumnus

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), hosted a general lecture titled “The Role of the Audit Board of the Republic of Indonesia (BPK-RI) in Eradicating Corruption and Supporting Government Strategic Programs” on Friday (8/5/2026) at the Auditorium of the Suhardi Building, FEB UNS. The event featured the Director General of State Financial Audit V of BPK RI, Widhi Widayat, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., CSFA., as the keynote speaker. The general lecture was attended by the faculty executive board, faculty members, academic support staff, students, and invited guests from BPK RI. Dr. Mulyadi, a member of the BPK RI Supervisory Board, was also in attendance.

The Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, stated in his opening remarks that this activity serves as evidence of the importance of collaboration between higher education institutions, the industrial sector, and state agencies, particularly BPK RI. He emphasized that FEB UNS continuously encourages educational models that focus not only on theoretical aspects but also strengthen practical experiences for students. “We want students to gain direct insights from practitioners and leaders at the national level so that upon graduation, they possess more comprehensive competencies,” Prof. Bhimo remarked.

He also expressed that the presence of Widhi Widayat as a distinguished alumnus of FEB UNS is hopefully going to motivate the students. Furthermore, he noted that FEB UNS is opening up wider collaboration opportunities with BPK RI, including supporting institutional capacity building and the attainment of international accreditation.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UNS, Prof. Dr. Hartono, dr., M.Si., expressed his appreciation for the implementation of the partnership between FEB UNS and BPK RI. According to him, the presence of Widhi Widayat as an alumnus of FEB UNS who now holds a strategic position at the national level is a distinct source of pride for UNS. “His presence is hopefully going to inspire students, demonstrating that the classrooms of FEB UNS can produce professionals, auditors, economists, and leaders who make major contributions to the nation and the state,” Prof. Hartono stated.

In his address, the Rector of UNS also emphasized that corruption remains a major challenge for Indonesia, as it impacts governance, national development, and public welfare. Therefore, the eradication of corruption cannot be accomplished by a single institution alone; it requires the collaboration of all elements of the nation, including universities.

He explained that BPK RI holds a strategic role in establishing accountable, transparent, and high-integrity governance through its function of auditing state financial management, recommending governance improvements, and strengthening internal control systems.

Through this general lecture, students are hopefully going to not only understand the role of BPK theoretically but also obtain a real overview of state financial governance practices, the importance of integrity in the bureaucracy, and the role of the younger generation in building an anti-corruption culture in Indonesia. This event simultaneously represents FEB UNS’s commitment to delivering contextual learning that is close to real-world practices through collaboration with state institutions and strategic partners. This activity supports SDG 16 regarding Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions through the strengthening of transparent, accountable, and high-integrity governance.
