FEB UNS Disseminates Fast-Track Program to Enhance Graduate Competencies
Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), organized the Academic Information Dissemination 2026 targeted at sixth-semester students of the Development Economics, Management, and Accounting Study Programs along with their parents or guardians. The event was held virtually via a Zoom Meeting on Monday, April 27, 2026, starting at 15:30 WIB. The session was also attended by the heads of undergraduate and master’s study programs at FEB UNS, with a primary focus on providing insights into academic tracks, particularly the fast-track program that enables students to complete both their undergraduate and master’s education within a shorter duration.
In her briefing, the Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs of FEB UNS, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, stated that the fast-track program was pioneered in 2025 and is being offered again in 2026 as a key strategy to elevate the quality of graduates. This program provides an opportunity for students to complete both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in approximately five years or less.
She explained that the urgency of continuing studies to a master’s degree is not merely about the academic title, but also about expanding competencies in accordance with the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI). Undergraduate graduates stand at Level 6, which emphasizes the mastery of technical and analytical skills, whereas master’s graduates reach Level 8, which demands higher-level capabilities, such as strategic decision-making and innovative problem-solving.
“At the master’s level, students do not just understand concepts, but are also equipped to formulate strategies, make strategic decisions, and solve managerial problems innovatively. Furthermore, networking capabilities and adaptability in multicultural environments are also significantly strengthened,” she explained.
Moreover, she added that the academic quality of UNS continues to show progress, as reflected in its 2026 global ranking position at 351–400 in the world, ranking second in Indonesia. This achievement serves as an added value for students who choose to continue their education from a bachelor’s to a master’s degree at the same institution.
The FEB UNS fast-track program is currently available through three tracks: from the Development Economics Study Program to the Master in Economics and Development Studies, from the Management Study Program to the Master of Management, and from the Accounting Study Program to the Master in Accounting. Students were given the opportunity to discuss directly with the Heads of Study Programs via breakout rooms to obtain more detailed information regarding the curriculum, prerequisites, and distinct advantages of each track from the respective master’s program heads. Aside from a shorter study duration, this program offers financial benefits in the form of a 50 percent tuition fee (UKT) discount during the initial semester of the master’s program. Registration for the fast-track program remains open until the end of April 2026, with application submissions managed through each respective Study Program.
Through this dissemination, FEB UNS hopefully assists students and parents in understanding the various available educational pathways and considering the fast-track program as a strategic choice to boost graduate competitiveness in the professional workforce. This session aligns with the commitment to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by broadening access and elevating the quality of higher education, alongside SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by preparing graduates who are more competent, adaptive, and ready for global challenges.
