FEB UNS Establishes Partnership with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Surakarta
Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), officially established cooperation with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Surakarta Branch Office through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, 3 December 2025. The event took place in the Dean Meeting Room, Soeharno TS Building, 2nd Floor, FEB UNS. The MoU was signed by the Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., and Teguh Wiyono, Head of the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Surakarta Branch Office. Also attending the session were the Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., and the Vice Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Tastaftiyan Risfandy, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D.
This MoU serves as the foundation for cooperation between FEB UNS as a higher education institution and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan as a public legal entity administering employment social security programs. The agreement stipulates that FEB students who participate in practical work, internships, professional activities, as well as student activities in the fields of sports, arts, and culture, are classified as Non-Wage Recipient Workers (Bukan Penerima Upah/BPU). Accordingly, students are entitled to employment social security protection in accordance with applicable regulations.
The scope of cooperation includes socialization activities, participant registration, and facilitation of contribution payments for students. Through BPJS Ketenagakerjaan protection programs, including Work Accident Insurance (Jaminan Kecelakaan Kerja/JKK) and Death Benefit Insurance (Jaminan Kematian/JKM), this cooperation is expected to provide a sense of security for students when participating in various activities that involve potential risks.
This cooperation represents an important step in ensuring that both academic and non-academic student activities continue to operate under improved safety standards. FEB UNS students now receive enhanced protection, particularly when directly engaged in practical activities and other field-based programs. Through this MoU, FEB UNS and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan agreed to provide mutual support in the implementation of employment social security programs in an effective, efficient, and coordinated manner, as stated in the objectives of the cooperation agreement.
Tastaftiyan Risfandy, Ph.D., emphasized the importance of dissemination for students to ensure their understanding of the benefits and procedures of BPJS Ketenagakerjaan participation prior to undertaking practical and field activities. “This is very important information for students. As it concerns their protection, we consider it necessary to disseminate this information promptly and will schedule the delivery in the near future,” he stated.
Through this cooperation, FEB UNS hopes to improve protection and safety for students participating in academic and non-academic activities that involve work-related risks, while ensuring that all student activities are carried out under more reliable protection standards.
This partnership supports SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through improved work protection for students and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through institutional collaboration between FEB UNS and BPJS Ketenagakerjaan.
