The PPK Team of BEM FEB Ormawa Holds a Parenting-Ready Program for PKK Members in Karangturi Village

The Executive Board of Students (BEM) Student Organization (Ormawa) Capacity Improvement Program (PPK) Team, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) held a learning program themed “Parenting-Knowledgeable Women” on Friday, August 25, 2023.

This Parenting-Knowledgeable Women program is the 4th program held by the PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FEB UNS through the Karangturi Women’s School (SEANTURI) which focuses on empowering women in Karangturi Village.

Attended by housewives who are mostly members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) in Karangturi Village, the 4th program from the Karangturi Women’s School (SEANTURI) was carried with the theme “Parenting-Knowledgeable Women” with the aim to increase the knowledge and awareness on the importance of understanding positive communication and child-rearing practice.

As revealed by the committee, the PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FEB UNS has targeted PKK members as the target audience, considering there are still mothers or prospective mothers who lack knowledge related to good and correct child-rearing practices. In fact, a proper understanding of child-rearing practice is a stimulus in supporting the growth and development of children, especially in character.

To support the implementation of the target output from this program, the PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FEB UNS invited Citra Tyas Laksmadita, S.Psi., M.Psi., as an invited speaker to deliver material points on child rearing practice to PKK Mothers in Karangturi Village.

The learning process delivered in this program is designed interactively to attract enthusiasm from women and avoid monotonous learning models.

The core activity of this program began with an introduction to material entitled “The Importance of Parenting: Child Rearing Practice and Positive Communication and Digital Native to Realize Intelligent and Superior Humans.” The speaker is highly enthusiastic and interactive in delivering parenting material, so it could arouse the enthusiasm of participants.

The material session in this program was followed by a question-and-answer session with speakers. In this session, enthusiasm was clearly seen from PKK mothers who asked quite a lot of questions about parenting based on personal experience or those closest to them.

After the question-and-answer session, activities continued with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) session accompanied by the PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FEB UNS and assignments to measure participants’ understanding of the material presented. Participants were also voluntarily allowed to present assignment results interactively.

The implementation of the “Women Understand Parenting” program ended with giving prizes to participants who have been active in assignments and also a documentation session attended by participants and speakers guided by the PPK Team of BEM FEB UNS Ormawa.

Of course, through the implementation of this 4th program, hopefully, “mothers” will better understand and be able to apply positive communication and appropriate parenting patterns to “their beloved children.”
