SMBCC 2023, Trains Students to Develop New Ideas and Find Adaptive and Innovative Solutions

The Sebelas Maret Business Case Competition (SMBCC) 2023 is an academic competition designated for students from various universities across Indonesia by focuses on how to analyze and find solutions to a business problem in a team. This activity serves as a forum for students to collaborate and apply their business knowledge.

Taking on the theme “Plethora of Opportunities and Challenges: Delve into the Challenges that Businesses Face in the Digital Era,” SMBCC invites all students to find more adaptive and innovative solutions in business activities, especially the digital economy, in order to face future challenges and opportunities.

The core event that take place in the FEB UNS was opened with several stages. The registration stage started from July 3 to September 17, 2023. Some other stages conducted in September to October are Preliminary-Round, Semifinal-Round, and Final-Round.

Out of 140 applicants, 12 finalists were selected, namely the Nater Team from Telkom University, the Booster Consulting Team from Universitas Gadjah Mada, Jompo Team from Ciputra University, the Rasa Group Team from Universitas Indonesia, the Kandaga Team from Universitas Padjajaran, the Sandykala Team from Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, the Remedial Team from Universitas Kristen Maranantha, the Towastro Team from Institut Teknologi Bandung, the Duo Team from Universitas Sebelas Maret, the Bocils Team from Universitas Sulthan Ageng Tirtayasa, the Nuasa Team from Universitas Sebelas Maret, and the Global Top Team from Institut Teknologi Bandung.

Niken Mar’atus Sholeha, Chief Executive of SMBCC 2023 said that this activity aims to help students to improve communication skills and present the results of their analysis effectively. Additionally, this activity also helps students develop cooperation skills and solve problems through the cases provided. Additionally, they can also develop new ideas and innovative solutions for students facing the digital era.

Bearing this in mind, students are expected to make a significant contribution to Indonesia’s digital economy by identifying existing challenges and opportunities. The series of competitions within the SMBCC 2023 consists of 3 (three) rounds, namely Preliminary-Case, Semifinal-Case, and Final-Pitch Deck.

On the last day, Saturday, October 28, 2023, the finalists conducted a field trip around Solo with several destinations, namely Javenir Pusat Oleh-Boleh Solo, Keris Museum, and Pura Mangkunegaran.
