In Collaboration with LPS, FEB UNS Expands Student Research Opportunities in the Finance and Banking Sector
Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), has once again strengthened its academic collaboration with the professional industry through the Dissemination of the LPS Call for Research 2026 on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the Auditorium of the Soedarah Soepono Building, FEB UNS. The event featured Nata Buana, a Specialist from the LPS Research Group, and was attended by students and the academic community of FEB UNS, particularly those with a keen interest in research, finance, banking, and financial system stability. This dissemination event served as a platform to introduce various research opportunities through the LPS Call for Research 2026 program, which carries the theme “Optimizing the Role of the Financial Sector in Supporting the Acceleration of National Economic Growth and Improving Public Welfare.”
The Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, stated in his opening remarks that this forum is a highly constructive initiative for students to assist them in completing their studies while strengthening their research capacity in economics and finance. He emphasized the importance of optimizing the financial sector to support development and elevate the economic performance of Indonesia.
According to him, the collaboration between FEB UNS and LPS has been established for a long time, including the development of LPS-related courses in several study programs, particularly the Development Economics and Management Study Programs. “This forum not only provides theoretical learning and case studies within the classroom but also opens up opportunities for students to produce research outputs that are applicable and relevant to current financial sector issues,” he remarked.
Furthermore, he explained that this activity represents a strategic opportunity for students to sharpen the research topics they are currently developing, especially those related to business, finance, financial system stability, financial literacy, and public financial inclusion. During the dissemination session, Nata Buana explained the strategic role of LPS as an independent institution tasked with insuring customer deposits, conducting bank resolutions, maintaining financial system stability, and managing insurance policy guarantees. The material also reviewed the journey of LPS since the 1997/1998 monetary crisis up to the strengthening of its mandate through various recent regulations.
In addition to introducing the functions and tasks of LPS, participants received a detailed explanation regarding the schemes and regulations of the LPS Call for Research 2026. The research topics offered cover deposit insurance programs, bank resolution, financial system stability, banking restructuring, Islamic banking and insurance, as well as advancing public financial inclusion and literacy.
Hopefully, this initiative can encourage the emergence of innovative student research that is highly relevant to national financial sector challenges. Through this forum, FEB UNS and LPS also reinforce the synergy between academics and practitioners in generating scientific studies that can provide a real contribution to Indonesia’s economic development. This academic agenda aligns with efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 regarding Quality Education, Goal 8 regarding Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Goal 17 regarding Partnerships for the Goals.
