Perspectives alignment holds critical role in various settings, particularly in communication, teamwork, and decision-making processes. When perspectives are aligned, it ensures that all parties interpret information or situations similarly, reducing the likelihood of misunderstandings. Within teams or groups, shared perspectives facilitate collaboration, as all members operate with a unified understanding of objectives and the necessary steps to achieve them. This alignment helps everyone move in the same direction, minimizes confusion, and enhances efficiency in achieving shared goals. Furthermore, it leads to more focused and appropriate decision-making, as everyone considers the same set of factors.

Perspectives alignment also nurtures stronger relationships among individuals or groups by fostering mutual understanding and reducing conflict. Thus, shared perspectives promote more effective communication, improved cooperation, and optimal goal attainment. In light of this, the Dean’s Office hosted a gathering with the Academic Support Staff in the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Konimex Hall, Bachtiar Effendi Building, FEB UNS.

“In this occasion, we wished to align the perspectives. We strive to remain approachable, friendly—or to put it plainly, grounded. This is the approach we have chosen. While we may be younger than some of our colleagues among the academic support staff and faculty members, we are committed to treating everyone with respect. As we work together, we welcome any criticism, provided it is delivered through proper procedures. Thank you for your support and cooperation. Regardless of who holds leadership, what matters to us is the system and performance—not the individual. This is our working pattern: today we serve in leadership roles, and at any moment, we could return to being regular faculty members. That will not change the nature of our interactions with all of you and with other faculty members,” explained Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Dean of FEB.

This sentiment was reinforced by Dr. Sutaryo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs, who emphasized that each leadership comes with its own style. Regardless of these variations, the fundamental aim remains to develop FEB—both institutionally and individually—in a continuous and collective manner.

“The four of us, in the Dean’s office, each bring different styles due to our varied backgrounds. The Dean has shared his approach. What must be emphasized, however, is that we and our colleagues must exercise appropriate judgment—knowing our place, our timing, and the context. Even with good intentions, if actions are taken at the wrong time or without the right context, they may lead to problems,” he explained.

The Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs also addressed the recent internal rotation of several academic support staff within FEB. He clarified that these changes were not based on personal preferences but rather on institutional needs and competencies, aimed at enhancing the faculty’s performance. He further stressed the importance of regeneration, thus, the faculty does not become overly reliant on specific individuals for certain competencies.

“There needs to be a regeneration process. So far, certain tasks are handled by the same individuals repeatedly. In the long run, this is not sustainable. We must begin preparing successors to ensure continuity,” he stated.

Additional remarks were delivered by Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs, and Tastaftiyan Risfandy, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs of FEB UNS.

As part of the event, the Dean’s Office also held a farewell ceremony for three retiring academic support staff members: Adi Nugroho, S.IP., Darsono, and Sundoro. The Dean’s Office expressed their gratitude to the retirees for their years of dedication and service at FEB UNS until their retirement.
