FEB UNS Introduces Study Programs and University Admission Pathways to Students of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta
Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), welcomed a visit from students of SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta on 13 May 2026 at the Suhardi Hall, FEB UNS. The visit served as an opportunity to introduce students to university life while providing insights into study program options, academic systems, and higher education admission pathways.
In her welcoming remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Research of FEB UNS, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, expressed her appreciation for the school’s initiative in introducing eleventh-grade students to the university environment at an early stage. According to her, early exposure to higher education is important in helping students make more informed decisions regarding their future academic pursuits.
Prof. Tri explained that selecting a university is often a challenging decision for both students and their parents. Therefore, visits such as this are expected to help students gain a better understanding of university life while becoming familiar with the academic quality offered by UNS and FEB UNS.
She further noted that UNS has established itself as one of Indonesia’s leading universities. Within FEB UNS, several study programs have also earned international recognition and achieved competitive global rankings, including Accounting, Management, and Economics. “UNS is not only geographically accessible for communities in the Greater Solo area, but it also offers strong academic competitiveness,” she stated before the students and accompanying teachers.
Prof. Tri also provided an overview of university life, emphasizing how it differs from secondary education. She explained that university students are expected to be more independent, proactive, and capable of managing academic freedom responsibly. She highlighted that FEB UNS offers academic support through academic advisors and heads of study programs who are available to assist students throughout their academic journey. This support system is intended to help students complete their studies on time while achieving both academic and personal development.
Students were introduced to the five undergraduate programs offered by FEB UNS: Accounting, Management, Economics, Digital Business, and the newly established Economics and Islamic Finance Study Program, which will begin accepting students through the Independent Admission Pathway in 2026, through a study program introduction session.
Meanwhile, Dhany Setiawan Prasetyo, a teacher accompanying the delegation from SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta, explained that the visit was initiated by students who wished to gain a closer understanding of university life and share that knowledge with their peers. He also noted that each year, graduates from SMA Negeri 1 Surakarta are admitted to FEB UNS through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), reflecting the high level of trust students place in the quality of education at UNS.
Aside from learning about the study programs, students received information regarding university admission pathways, including SNBP, SNBT/UTBK, and the UNS Independent Admission Pathway. The participants showed strong enthusiasm during the discussion session and actively took the opportunity to ask questions directly to faculty leaders and representatives of the study programs.
Through this activity, FEB UNS hopes to provide students with motivation and valuable insights as they prepare for higher education while strengthening the relationship between universities and secondary schools in supporting the development of high-quality human resources. This activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
