Excellent Service Begins with High-Quality Human Resources: FEB UNS Holds Excellent Service and Effective Communication Training

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), organized an Excellent Service and Effective Communication Training for its Academic Support Staff on Monday, July 20, 2026, at Classroom 2, 5th Floor, UNS Tower. The program aimed to enhance the competencies of Academic Support Staff in delivering professional services while strengthening their public communication skills to better serve the academic community and the public. The training was officially opened by the Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized that higher education institutions operate within the service sector, making service quality a key factor in building public trust. She explained that every member of the Academic Support Staff plays a strategic role in creating positive service experiences for students, parents, prospective students, alumni, and institutional partners.

Prof. Tri further explained that increasing competition among higher education institutions, the expansion of international classes, and the development of new study programs present challenges that must be addressed through continuous service quality improvement. She also highlighted that FEB UNS’s commitment to achieving AACSB international accreditation requires excellence in governance and a strong service culture across all faculty units.

The first session featured Rio Permana, who delivered a presentation on Excellent Service. The session emphasized the importance of cultivating a service-oriented culture focused on user satisfaction through professionalism, empathy, responsiveness, and the ability to provide effective solutions to the needs and concerns of service users.

The second session was presented by Muh. Akbar Rahmansyah, who discussed Effective Communication. Participants explored the importance of clear, persuasive, and ethical communication in strengthening the institution’s reputation and building positive relationships with the public. Through interactive presentations, discussions, and practical exercises, participants gained insights into effective information delivery, strategies for building public trust, and approaches to handling various communication situations in the workplace.

This training reflects FEB UNS’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the quality of its human resources while reinforcing a culture of excellent service as a foundation for institutional governance. By enhancing service and public communication competencies, the faculty expects its Academic Support Staff to deliver services that are prompt, accurate, courteous, and professional, thereby supporting FEB UNS’s vision of becoming a leading faculty with an international reputation.

The program also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the enhancement of institutional human resource capacity and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions) through the promotion of effective governance and high-quality public services.
