Accounting Study Program FEB UNS Holds Focus Group Discussion on Curriculum Review

The Accounting Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on curriculum review, Friday, July 18, 2025, at UNS Tower. The event featured two speakers, Dr. Luluk Widyawati, S.E., M.Bus., Ph.D., CSRA., CSRS., Head of the Accounting Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia, and Rayenda Khresna Brahmana, Ph.D., Coventry University, UK.

Head of the Accounting Study Program at FEB UNS, Prof. Doddy Setiawan, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., delivered a welcoming speech to all Accounting lecturers in attendance and expressed his gratitude to the two speakers for their willingness to share knowledge and experience. “We sincerely thank both speakers for dedicating their time to contribute to this forum. Hopefully, this activity will provide great benefits for all of us,” he stated.

The session was moderated by Isna Putri Rahmawati, S.E., M.Sc., Ak., a lecturer of the Accounting Study Program at FEB UNS, who explained that the curriculum reconstruction is a regular initiative aimed at aligning the curriculum with the evolving needs of stakeholders as well as advances in accounting knowledge.

“We look forward to receiving insights from the speakers and all workshop participants on how to develop a curriculum that is relevant to current conditions and beneficial for our graduates. Therefore, we kindly ask for active participation in reviewing the existing curriculum of the Accounting Study Program at UNS, while also gaining best practices from the Undergraduate Accounting Study Program at Universitas Indonesia,” she explained.

The discussion then continued with a presentation by Dr. Luluk Widyawati, who outlined that the curriculum review process involves three main stages: defining the Learning Outcomes (CPL), translating the CPL into courses and determining credit weight (SKS), and further detailing CPL and courses into structured learning processes for each session. “These three stages serve as the basis for evaluating the existing curriculum and for developing the Undergraduate Accounting curriculum at Universitas Indonesia,” said Dr. Luluk.

The agenda proceeded with a curriculum review session by Rayenda Khresna Brahmana. After both reviews, the event continued with a discussion and Q&A session between participants and speakers, providing deeper insights and constructive feedback for the curriculum development.

This curriculum reconstruction also aligns with UNS’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education. By developing a curriculum that is relevant and adaptive to contemporary needs, the Accounting Study Program at FEB UNS contributes to preparing competent graduates who are ready to compete globally, while strengthening the role of higher education in sustainable development.
