12 Teams Impress the Jury at the Final of SMBCC

Twelve teams from 8 (eight) universities in Indonesia went to the final of Sebelas Maret Business Case Competition (SMBCC), on Friday October 11th, 2019. The teams are from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November (ITS), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universitas Indoensia (UI), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Bina Nusantara (BINUS), Universitas Udayana, and Ciputra University.

SMBCC is a national level competition in business case, hosted by the Students Association of the Bachelor in Management Study Program (HMJM) of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS. This competition is a part of the series of activities including in Management Carnival, which aims to solve the social problem through students’ creative thinking. It is expected to encourage students’ critical thinking on a problem as well as improving their competitiveness in academic field.

Previously, the participants who passed to the final stage followed a company visit to the Balekambang for a survey and collecting data, for their final presentation on the next day. In front of the four juries, which consist of Balekambang management, Dinas Pariwisata (Tourism Bureau) of Surakarta, and Academician from FEB UNS. The teams present their survey’s result, the problems found, as well as proposing creative ideas for the development of Balekambang.

The juries are impressed by the presentation and creatives ideas provided by the participants for the development of Balekambang. “We gained a lot of benefits from this event, as if we were shopping for inspiration. The students’ creative ideas are excellent,” Wahyu, a staff from Tourism Bureau, says. The result of assessment will be announced on the Talk show and National Seminar on Saturday, October 12th, 2019, in UNS Auditorium. The final score consists of written paper assessment (35%), presentation (30%), and final presentation (35%).
