SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals

A team of four lecturers from Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) consisting of Prof. Dr. E. Muhtar, S.Pd., M.Si., CFrA., Sutaryo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., CRA., CRP., ACPA., Dr. Jaka Winarna, M.Si., Ak., and Prihatnolo Gandhi Amidjaya, S.E., M.Sc., conducted a Community Engagement program at the Joint Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDESMA) in Karanganyar Regency, Central Java, on Friday, 26 June 2026.

The program is part of UNS’s commitment to the Tri Dharma of Higher Education while reflecting the University’s mission to create meaningful societal impact by strengthening the competencies of BUMDESMA managers, particularly in financial management and tax administration. The community engagement activity focused on providing one-day mentoring on financial reporting and tax administration based on the latest regulations. Following the training, the team will continue to provide on-site assistance to individual BUMDESMA units, particularly in the implementation of financial management and tax administration practices in their daily operations.

The program was attended by 15 participants, consisting of managers and personnel responsible for finance and taxation from BUMDESMA organizations across Karanganyar Regency. Through this initiative, the team aims to enhance the financial and tax literacy of BUMDESMA managers so that financial administration and tax compliance can be carried out effectively, transparently, accountably, and in accordance with prevailing regulations.

Representing the community engagement team, Sutaryo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., CRA., CRP., ACPA., emphasized the importance of understanding the latest regulatory developments in financial management and taxation for BUMDESMA.

“With adequate competencies, BUMDESMA managers will be able to carry out financial management and tax administration effectively, in compliance with regulations, transparently, and with full accountability,” he explained.

Meanwhile, Teguh Wiyono, representing BUMDESMA, expressed his appreciation for the program. He noted that the activity provided valuable updates on regulatory changes while strengthening the competencies of BUMDESMA personnel in applying those regulations to their daily operations.

“Programs like this are highly important and beneficial for us. We hope that this collaboration and similar community engagement initiatives will continue so that BUMDESMA management can improve continuously,” said Teguh.

To maximize its long-term impact, the program will continue through follow-up mentoring in the form of direct monitoring and evaluation of financial management and tax administration practices at each participating BUMDESMA.

Through this ongoing assistance, BUMDESMA managers are expected to be able to independently implement sound financial management and tax administration practices in accordance with the latest regulations.

The program also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by strengthening the competencies of BUMDESMA managers through capacity-building activities, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering collaboration between Universitas Sebelas Maret and local village-owned enterprises to support sustainable institutional development.
