KEI FEB UNS Holds National Webinar on Easy Steps to Become a Young Investor Through Sharia Stock Investment

The Islamic Economics Studies Student Association (KEI), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) successfully hosted a national webinar in collaboration with IDX Syariah and Korean Investment & Sekuritas Indonesia (KISI). The event, held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, focused on the theme “Easy Steps to Become a Young Investor Through Sharia Stock Investment.”

The webinar featured three speakers: Deri Yustria from the Sharia Capital Market Division, Asep Saepul Milah from Korean Investment & Sekuritas, and Mohammad Rofiul Azka Nahdi, a Sharia Literacy Ambassador. Over 50 students from various universities participated in the event online.

The first session was led by Mohammad Rofiul Azka Nahdi, who introduced the topic of financial planning, particularly for students. Azka emphasized the importance of creating financial plans and investments at an early stage. “To ensure that our loved ones live comfortably, to pursue our dreams and goals, and to anticipate unexpected expenses, all of these can be achieved by making a structured and well-thought-out financial plan,” he said.

He further explained that financial planning steps could start with analyzing essential needs, such as housing, higher education, and saving for retirement. Second, it is essential to track all income and expenses in detail. The habit of recording daily earnings and expenditures helps to understand where the money is coming from and where it is going. Third, allocating funds from earnings into various categories such as basic needs, savings, investments, and charity is crucial. Lastly, it is important to evaluate and adjust the financial plan regularly to keep it relevant and effective.

The second speaker, Derry Yustria SE., MBA., CFP., an official at IDX Syariah since 2008, discussed the benefits of investing in sharia stocks. He highlighted that Sharia-compliant stocks can be inherited, donated, or used as dowries for marriage.

The third speaker, Asep Muhamad Saepul Milah, S.Pd., RTA., an experienced investment specialist at Korean Investment, shared insights on the importance of investing as a student, especially for those living away from home, who may have high expenses and occasional large unexpected costs.

“As students, especially those living away from home, we often face significant expenses and unexpected costs. In such situations, we all realize that investment plays a vital role in safeguarding our finances, especially during a financial crisis or when funds run out before the end of the month,” he explained.

Through the presentations by the three speakers, students gained valuable knowledge about Sharia-based investments.
