FEB UNS Collaborates with BSI Institute to Host Guest Lecture

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) collaborated with the BSI Institute, Office of Chief Economist of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), to hold a guest lecture on “Sharia Economics and Finance: Current Developments and Issues” on Thursday, June 13, 2024.

The event, which took place in the Konimex Hall of the Bachtiar Effendi Building at FEB UNS, was attended by students from the Digital Business Study Program and featured Dr. Luqyan Tamanni, Head of the BSI Institute at PT Bank Syariah Indonesia.

In his opening remarks, Tastaftiyan Risfandy, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Business, Collaboration, and Information Affairs at FEB UNS, emphasized that in the current digital era, students need more than just classroom learning; they should also gain insights from industry practitioners.

“Students today are part of the digital era, the millennial generation, in a time of rapid growth. Classroom lectures alone are insufficient for students.

Why? Because each professor brings expertise in a specific field—like myself, who may have knowledge in finance but not in marketing. Professors complement each other’s skills, yet many are not directly involved in practical fields. This is why it’s essential to hold public lectures and collaborate with external parties,” he explained.

He further noted that guest lectures like this are vital to enhance students’ capabilities, update their skills, and refine their soft skills, helping prepare them for the workforce. Students must cultivate additional competencies beyond their regular coursework to be well-equipped for future careers.
