PKKM 2022 Publishing Workshop, Management Study Program Invites Prof. Clotilde Coron

The Visiting Professor Series in the Kompetisi Kampus Merdeka Program (PKKM), hosted by the Bachelor in Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta, continues. This December, Management Study Program successfully hosted several visiting professor lectures and workshops. The program continues with the Publishing Workshop entitled “How to Publish an Article in Reputable Journal: HRM and Big Data,” conducted on Monday, December 12th, 2022.

The recent workshop hosted by the Study Program invited Associate Professor Clotilde Coron, Ph.D., from IAE Paris Sorbonne Business School, France. Prof. Coron previously delivered numerous topics in the earlier sessions of this Visiting Professor Program. In this session, Prof. Coron shared the steps of the Human Resource Management (HRM) research article publication.

Starting the presentation, Prof. Coron reminded participants that before starting to write a research article, a researcher must read a substantial amount of published research articles as part of the critical literature review process. “Before starting writing, you need to read first because there are much different writing styles, and there is a specific writing style for each field or certain research methodology,” explains Prof. Coron.

For around one hour, Prof. Coron also explained the six stages of preparing a research article, such as planning, finding a suitable publishing outlet, understanding the article structure according to the destination journal requirements, characteristics of good writing, focusing on the introduction, and the abstract.

“Before your final article draft is completed, it is better to find a suitable journal outlet according to the research topic because each journal has its specific format and structure requirements for prospective articles. Thus, while preparing for the final draft, you need to follow the requirement and criteria set by the publisher. Lastly, a good article is well articulated and easy to understand,” said Prof. Coron. The workshop continued with a question and answer session and concluded with article discussions between the lecturer of the Management Study Program and Prof. Coron.
