Crypto Literacy Month Roadshow Comes to FEB UNS

The Crypto Literacy Month: Roadshow to Solo event, carrying the theme “The Gen Z Dilemma, Financially Literate or Just Trends Followers?”, was organized on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at the Suhardi Building Auditorium. This activity was a collaborative initiative between the Digital Business Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), alongside Crypto Literacy Month (BLK) and the Financial Services Authority (OJK), aiming to enhance digital financial literacy among the younger generation.

In his keynote speech, the Head of the Department of Supervision of IAKD at OJK, Dino Milano Siregar, emphasized that increasing financial literacy and inclusion is one of OJK’s primary mandates. Based on the 2025 National Survey, Indonesia’s financial literacy index stands at 66.46%, while the financial inclusion index has reached 80.5%.

“This indicates that public access to financial services is higher than their actual understanding. In fact, literacy serves as an essential foundation in financial decision-making,” he stated.

He explained that financial literacy is not limited to knowledge, but also encompasses the skills and confidence that influence behavior in managing finances, with the ultimate objective of achieving financial well-being. Therefore, he reminded the younger generation not to rush into investing without adequate comprehension. “If you do not understand it yet, do not get into it. Identify it, comprehend it, and only then make your investment decisions,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, the Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs of FEB, Sutaryo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., CRA., CRP., ACPA., stated in his remarks that the advancement of financial technology and digital assets, including crypto, is expanding rapidly and gaining popularity among youth. He also noted that since January 10, 2025, OJK has officially become the regulatory and supervisory authority for digital financial assets, including crypto.

“As of February 2026, the number of crypto accounts in Indonesia has reached over 21 million, with approximately 62% of users coming from the 18–30 age group. This indicates the dominance of the younger generation within this ecosystem,” he explained.

Nevertheless, he cautioned that user growth is not always followed by an increase in understanding. “Literacy is the key. The younger generation needs to understand not only the potential but also the risks and legal aspects of digital assets,” he expressed.

He also highlighted the importance of collaboration among regulators, associations, the industry, and higher education institutions in building a healthy and sustainable digital financial ecosystem. Campuses hold a strategic role in shaping a younger generation that does not merely consume technology, but is also capable of critical thinking and innovation.

This activity is expected to serve as an educational space that drives digital financial literacy improvement and shapes a wiser younger generation in making financial decisions amidst rapid technological advancements. As part of the contribution toward sustainable development, this initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), through strengthening financial literacy and the readiness of the younger generation to face the digital economy.
