The Financial Technology (Fintech) Laboratory of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), held an online training session on Thursday, July 10, 2025, with the theme \u201cDigitalization of Islamic Banking Services: Smart Solutions for a More Prosperous Society.\u201d<\/em> The event was attended by more than 20 FEB UNS students and featured a special speaker, Dewi Fairus, Business Development & Marketing Head of OCBC Syariah.<\/p>\n

During the training, participants gained valuable insights into the development of digital-based Islamic banking services, as well as the challenges and opportunities in this sector. In her opening remarks, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Dean of Academic and Research Affairs at FEB UNS, emphasized the importance of students actively taking advantage of learning opportunities outside the classroom, including training, workshops, and professional certifications organized by various laboratories within FEB UNS.\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cLearning in the classroom alone is not enough. Completing 145 credits also does not guarantee readiness to enter the workforce. What matters most are the experiences and competencies gained outside of lectures, one of which is through activities like this,\u201d said Prof. Tri.<\/p>\n

On this occasion, Prof. Tri also introduced the existence of eight laboratories at FEB UNS, which regularly organize student development activities. The Fintech Laboratory, for instance, actively conducts training, workshops, and professional certifications to support students\u2019 career prospects in digital finance.<\/p>\n

\"\"She also expressed her appreciation to the Head of the Fintech Laboratory, Wahyu Trinarningsih, and the organizing committee for their dedication in making this activity a success. \u201cWe hope this program not only broadens students\u2019 knowledge but also provides practical skills for building careers in the digital Islamic banking sector. I also entrusted Ms. Dewi to share her experiences in product development and strategies for staying competitive amid the rapid innovation in banking products today,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The training also provided participants with certificates that can be used as one of the administrative requirements for registering their thesis defense at FEB UNS. Students are encouraged to stay updated on training and certification opportunities through official social media channels, the FEB UNS website, and regularly distributed digital leaflets.<\/p>\n

\"\"\u201cFEB UNS graduates must have added value\u2014not only a diploma but also competencies that are relevant to industry needs,\u201d concluded Prof. Tri.<\/p>\n

This program also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth and SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. By promoting the digitalization of Islamic banking services, the training supports financial inclusion, economic empowerment, and the development of sustainable technological innovation.
