In an effort to foster a collaborative and productive academic atmosphere, the Center for Research and Community Engagement Development (P4M) FEB UNS, in collaboration with the Research Group for Digital Economy, Marketing, and Consumer Insight (DEMCI), organized a Working Paper Forum on Tuesday, 10 June 2025, at the Coordination Room for Academic Support Staff, Soeharno TS Building, FEB UNS. The event, attended by faculty members and students, featured Catur Sugiarto, S.E., M.SM., M.Rech., Ph.D., CDMP., CPM (Asia)., Lecturer and Researcher from the RG Digital Economy, Marketing, and Consumer Insight (DEMCI), as the main speaker.<\/p>\n

Dila Maghrifani, S.E., B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of P4M, conveyed that the forum was part of the dissemination of academic research findings to broaden the insights of the academic community, particularly regarding sustainable entrepreneurship development, eco-innovation, and the growth of renewable energy startups in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
She further explained that the research results presented by the speaker were not merely academic studies but were part of a project funded by Bank Indonesia, which has made tangible contributions to society. Meanwhile, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs of FEB UNS, in her remarks, expressed her hope that participants, most of whom were students, could actively engage in discussions and absorb the insights provided by the speaker.![\"\"](\"https:\/\/feb.uns.ac.id\/feb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/foto-4-1-300x225.jpg\")

During the Working Paper Forum organized by P4M, Dr. Catur Sugiarto delivered a presentation entitled Business Incubation, Eco-innovation, and Startup Growth: A Study of Renewable Energy Entrepreneurship in Indonesia. \u201cIndonesia possesses abundant potential for Renewable Energy (EBT), reaching 3,686 gigawatts, sourced from solar, hydro, bioenergy, geothermal, and ocean energy. Despite this vast potential, Indonesia still relies heavily on fossil fuels, particularly coal, which generates high emissions. This creates an urgency to transition to cleaner and more sustainable energy sources,\u201d he explained.![\"\"](\"https:\/\/feb.uns.ac.id\/feb\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/Foto-3-1.jpg\")

Furthermore, it was conveyed that renewable energy startups in Indonesia face numerous challenges, including complex regulations, high capital requirements, and low market awareness regarding the importance of renewable energy. Globally, many companies such as Proterra and Britishvolt have gone bankrupt due to supply chain issues and insufficient funding. In Indonesia, companies like Xurya and Surya Power also face policy uncertainty and regulatory barriers that impede their growth.<\/p>\n
Business incubators play a crucial role in reducing dependency on a single energy source and accelerating community welfare in regions with renewable energy potential. Through the development of startups in the renewable energy sector and the strengthening of existing enterprises, incubators can provide the sustainable support necessary to drive innovation and growth. Thus, business incubators can serve as a strategic solution to harness the renewable energy potential that Indonesia possesses.<\/p>\n

The research conducted by Dr. Catur Sugiarto and colleagues employed a mixed-methods approach to identify factors influencing the success of business incubators in the renewable energy sector. This approach is expected to offer deeper insights into how incubators can contribute to renewable energy development in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
