The Vice Rector of General and Financial Affairs Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), Dr. Bandi, acknowledge the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNS that provides an inspiration to other study programs in UNS, to obtain international accreditation. The Study Program in Master of Management FEB UNS become the first study program that earn an international accreditation from ABEST21, while the Bachelor of Management and Bachelor of Economics is certified by AUN-QA. The Faculty itself has become the member of AACSB, and followed by the Bachelor in Accounting Study Program that become the member of AAPBS and EFMD-EPAS. For its international recognition, FEB UNS develop a collaboration with international universities and institutions such as Purdue University USA, University of Limoges France, University of Twente Netherlands, University of Portsmouth UK, Science Po Toulouse France, and Curtin University Australia.

“Currently we aim to be a world-class university, and FEB UNS has started through several international collaboration and certification. Moreover, one of the Faculty members, Dr. Irwan Trinugroho has succeeded to be an assessor for AUN-QA. This achievement is the pride of UNS. If there is an addition for internationalization program, the Rector of UNS will put a full attention on it, and I will support the budget implementation,” Dr. Bandi explains during his opening remark on Curriculum Workshop hosted by the Master in Management Study Program, September 18th, 2019.

Retno Tanding Suryandari, PhD, the Head of Study Program explained about the preparation of an international level curriculum for the program. One of the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) of the UNS is internationalization program that includes Faculty member involvement in various international level activities such as research collaboration, international conference, and mobility lecturer.

“Improvement on the number of international students is also important, currently the Master in Management Program have one international student who is in their third semester. Another international student from Turkey is already graduated. Meanwhile, we also get exchange students from Malaysia and Turkey,” she explains. The study program will start to prepare to develop international programs that can be offered to the international student who want to enrolled in MM FEB UNS, such as student exchange, credit transfer, double degree program, as well as full degree program.

Further, she explains the challenges for the development of an international curriculum is the availability of lecturer to teach in English, the tuition fee that will be offered to international student and national students is not yet established, and unsystematic promotion to the target market. As for the opportunities, the study program is accredited by ABEST21, which can attract international students; various active MoU with partner universities both from European and Asian universities, that needs further follow-up action; as well as opportunity to enhance lecturer’s competence in English comprehension from the US Embassy.

Short course non-credit program is in demand by the international universities from Europe, Australia, and USA. Through international exchange program those universities can sent their student to get a short course in other countries.

At the end of the workshop session, Dr. Retno Tanding Suryandari hopes that she can summarizes all suggestions given by the participants for the development of the international curriculum in MM FEB UNS.
