Master in Accounting Study Program (MAKSI), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), organized an In-House Training on the Use of EViews & STATA Software for Data Processing from Tuesday to Wednesday (19–20/5/2026) at the Teleconference Room, Soedarah Soepono Building, FEB UNS. The event, attended by students of the Master in Accounting Study Program, aimed to enhance competency in quantitative research data processing to support thesis completion and scientific publication. The Master in Accounting Study Program invited speakers from the Center for Environmental, Social, and Governance Studies (ESGI) team at Universitas Airlangga, featuring Nabilah Az-zahra Zhafira as the STATA trainer, Aqila Malfa as the EViews trainer, and Nisa Andini Faradina as the moderator.

The Head of the Master in Accounting Study Program at FEB UNS, Lulus Kurniasih, S.E., M.S.Ak., Ph.D., expressed her appreciation in her opening remarks to the ESGI Universitas Airlangga team for their willingness to provide training and assistance to the students.

“First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the facilitators from the ESGI Airlangga team for their willingness to be present to provide training and guidance for our students, particularly in data processing for their theses. Hopefully, this activity can facilitate students in their study completion process,” she remarked.

She also emphasized that this training serves as a form of academic competency development for students, especially for those in their second and third semesters who are about to enter the proposal seminar stage.

“This activity is also a requirement for second and third-semester students who plan to register for their proposal seminars. The training certificate will later become part of the administrative prerequisites,” she explained.

Furthermore, the Head of the Study Program expressed her aspiration that students would utilize this training opportunity optimally, particularly through the direct assistance provided during data processing practice. “Hopefully, students can participate in this activity directly or offline, so that when challenges arise during data processing, they can be immediately discussed and resolved with the help of the ESGI team,” she added.

During the two-day event, participants received material on the application of STATA and EViews software for quantitative research and econometrics. In the STATA session, participants were introduced to the functions of STATA in research, data entry and management, basic statistical analysis, and the application of STATA in scientific writing. Additionally, participants learned about data management, data cleaning, statistical analysis, and the utilization of do-files to support research reproducibility.

Meanwhile, in the EViews session, participants were equipped with an understanding of econometric analysis using panel data regression, model selection tests, classical assumption tests, and the interpretation of panel data regression results. The material also covered the use of EViews in processing economic and financial data, including regression analysis, panel data, and research hypothesis testing.

Through this activity, the Master in Accounting Study Program at FEB UNS hopefully builds stronger technical capabilities in research data processing among students, thereby increasing the quality of scientific works and accelerating study completion. This academic initiative also supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 regarding Quality Education and Goal 9 regarding Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure through technological development in higher education.

Master of Accounting Study Program (MAKSI), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) organized a New Student Orientation series combined with a Guest Lecture titled “Governance Professional” and an Alumni Sharing Session on Friday, 13 February 2026, at the Teleconference Room of FEB UNS. The event marked an important milestone for new students to understand the academic direction of the program while exploring strategic career opportunities at the international level.

The program was officially opened by the Head of the Master of Accounting Study Program, Lulus Kurniasih, S.E., M.S.Ak., Ph.D. In her remarks, she expressed appreciation for the new students’ decision to join the program and emphasized that the Maksi UNS curriculum is designed to develop accountants who are adaptive to global transformation and professional demands.

The main session featured an international expert, Dr. Nazratul Aina Mohamad Anwar from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). In her presentation, moderated by Muhammad Alif Nur Irvan, S.Ak., M.Acc., CPA. Dr. Nazratul elaborated on the evolution of the Corporate Secretary’s role into that of a Governance Professional. She explained that in the modern era, the responsibilities of accountants and governance professionals extend beyond legal compliance and have shifted toward becoming strategic partners to the board of directors in creating long-term organizational value.

The alumni sharing session featured Antin Okfitasari, S.E., S.H., M.Si., Ak., CA., BKP., ASEAN CPA., as a practitioner who successfully manages a tax consulting and accounting services firm, Antin shared her multidisciplinary career journey, spanning accounting, law, and cross-sector professional engagement. “Love the accounting profession wholeheartedly. Deep understanding will cultivate strong competence and ethical professional practice,” Antin stated.

She further emphasized the importance of reskilling and leveraging technological advancements, including cyber law, to address professional challenges in both rural and urban contexts.

The panel discussion also highlighted the fact that the number of professional accountants in Indonesia remains significantly low relative to its total population. This condition presents a substantial opportunity for Master’s students in Accounting to fill the gap, particularly through professional certification and applied research aligned with industry needs.

Concluding the event, the program management outlined the academic direction of the Master of Accounting program, which includes: curriculum structure focusing on strengthening data analytics and governance; thesis requirements providing guidance for applied and innovative research; and academic facilities, including library resources and laboratories, to support students’ academic progress.

This initiative directly contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by ensuring higher accounting education aligned with global industry standards; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by producing experts who reinforce national economic transparency; and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions) by promoting ethical, accountable, and corruption-free organizational governance through the role of professional accountants.
