Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), hosted the “FutureFin” as part of the “Tech for Indonesia” initiative at the Suhardi Building Hall of FEB UNS on Tuesday, 3 March 2026. Taking on the theme of “Exploring Digital Lending Through Data, Ethics and Critical Thinking,” the event brought together representatives from academia, industry, and regulators to strengthen digital financial literacy and inclusion among students.

The Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., highlights the significance of the FutureFin Talk for students, particularly those enrolled in the Digital Business study program, as it provides an opportunity to learn directly from practitioners and stakeholders in the financial technology sector. “Students should not be confined solely to lessons and theories in the classroom. The campus must also be integrated with developments beyond its walls, including those in the industrial world,” he stated.
He further noted that UNS is currently placing emphasis on integrating academic activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) agenda, particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, and expressed the hope that events such as this would provide students with new insights and perspectives from competent speakers.

The Head of the Surakarta Branch for the Financial Services Authority (OJK), Eko Hariyanto, extended appreciation to FEB UNS for its commitment to supporting the enhancement of financial literacy and inclusion through the organization of educational activities for students. OJK also acknowledged the contribution of fintech company AdaKami in participating in financial literacy and inclusion programs in Indonesia by engaging students as participants in this event.

On the other hand, the Head of Digital Business Study Program, Aldy Fariz Achsanta, S.E., M.Rech., Ph.D., conveyed that the event serves as a space for students to sharpen and update their knowledge of financial technology, both conceptually and in terms of the practical challenges that arise in its implementation. He noted that participants received perspectives from two speakers representing distinct viewpoints, from the industry and academics, enabling students to develop a more comprehensive understanding of fintech developments.

“This event is fundamentally part of a remarkable synergy between the academic world and the industrial world. It is hoped that going forward, this collaboration will involve an even broader range of stakeholders, from the business sector and regulators to the wider community,” he remarked.

He further mentioned that such collaboration is essential to advancing responsible and sustainable financial inclusion, and encouraged students to engage attentively with the material in order to gain direct insight into how the fintech industry operates in practice.

Through the FutureFin event, students are expected to acquire not only theoretical understanding but also a meaningful discussion experience that offers a tangible perspective on industry practice.

In her opening remarks, the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs and Research of FEB UNS, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., stated that although the Undergraduate Digital Business Study Program at FEB UNS is relatively new, it has demonstrated highly encouraging achievements. In terms of applicant interest and selectivity ratio, the program ranks among the top at UNS and holds the second position within the Social Sciences and Humanities cluster.

“Although newly established, Digital Business has become highly popular. The high level of selectivity also indicates the strong academic quality of incoming students,” she explained.

She further outlined that FEB UNS currently manages four undergraduate programs: Accounting, Management, Development Economics, and Digital Business. At the postgraduate level, FEB UNS offers Master’s programs in Accounting, Management, and Development Economics, as well as a Doctoral Program in Economics with three main concentrations: Accounting, Management, and Development Economics.

Prof. Tri also highlighted FEB UNS’s commitment to quality assurance and internationalization through the pursuit of international accreditation from Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). FEB UNS has entered the Eligibility stage and is currently preparing the Self-Evaluation Report (SER) as part of the accreditation process.

In terms of academic infrastructure, FEB UNS is supported by eight laboratories and one Fiscal Corner, designed to enhance learning processes, professional training, certification programs, and research activities. The Research and Community Service Center (P4M) also plays an active role in supporting scholarly research and community engagement initiatives.

Meanwhile, Dr. Nurvita Trianasari, Head of the Digital Business Study Program at FEB Universitas Telkom, explained that the visit aimed to conduct benchmarking and academic discussions regarding the management of the Digital Business Study Program.

“The benchmarking focus includes curriculum development, study program governance, human resource strengthening, implementation of Outcome-Based Education (OBE), and strategies for national and international accreditation,” she stated.

FEB UNS was selected as a benchmarking partner due to its strong academic reputation, international ranking achievements, and its commitment to developing a Digital Business Study Program that is responsive to industry demands and technological advancements.

The session continued with a comprehensive presentation led by Aldy Fariz Achsanta, S.E., M.Rech., Ph.D., Head of the Undergraduate Digital Business Study Program at FEB UNS. He provided an overview of the program’s scientific vision, curriculum structure, laboratory support—including the UNS Fintech Center—and strategies for strengthening accreditation status and graduate competitiveness.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) officially launched “Academic Handbook for Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Programs” on Friday, 3 October 2025. The event was conducted virtually and attended by all undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, as well as faculty members of FEB UNS.

In her remarks, Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., emphasized the significance of the session for students. The academic handbook serves as a primary reference to help students navigate their academic journey in a more structured and focused manner.

“There are two main objectives of this activity: improving the quality of graduates and enhancing the quality of curriculum and learning experiences. The academic and curricular information presented in this handbook will help students to graduate on time, acquire knowledge and skills relevant to the job market, and ensure a meaningful and enjoyable learning experience at FEB UNS,” she explained.

Prof. Tri further added that the handbook also provides a comprehensive understanding of academic regulations, including lecture procedures, scientific writing guidelines, and the stages of final project completion. With this information, students are expected to design more effective learning strategies, enabling them not only to graduate but also to gain competencies that are relevant to professional settings.

The handbook covers various essential aspects, including the vision and mission of UNS and FEB, organizational governance, academic regulations, curriculum, and supporting facilities. It is divided into three categories the Undergraduate Programs: Accounting, Management, Development Economics, and Digital Business. Master’s Programs covering the Master of Accounting (MAKSI), Master of Economics and Development Studies (MESP), and Master of Management (MM), and lastly the Doctoral Program in Economics (PDIE) with specializations in Accounting, Management, and Economics.

In addition to the launching session, the event also addressed the latest regulations regarding student internships. Vice Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs, Tastaftiyan Risfandy, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D., explained that internships at FEB UNS are divided into two categories: compulsory internships and independent internships. The compulsory internship is part of the curriculum, worth 3 credits, and requires submission of a final report. Meanwhile, the independent internship is initiated by students, carries no credit load, and does not require reporting. Detailed information on internship programs is included in the Academic Handbook.

As a parallel session of the event, students participated in breakout room sessions led by each Head of Study Program. During these sessions, students received more in-depth explanations about the curriculum, academic regulations, and learning strategies specific to their programs. The interactive sessions provided opportunities for students to ask questions directly and obtain information tailored to their academic needs.

Through the launch of this Academic Handbook, FEB UNS hopes that all students can follow a clearer academic path, understand their rights and responsibilities, and make full use of the available learning facilities. This initiative also reaffirms FEB UNS’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) through strengthened learning systems, Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through internship regulations, and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through the provision of modern learning facilities.

A student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), contributes to another accomplishment at the international stage. Siti Maysarah, an undergraduate student of the Digital Business Study Program, won the 2nd Best Paper Award at the 9th International Conference on Management in Emerging Markets (ICMEM) 2025 in Bandung.

Also attending the conference were three students of Digital Business Study Program FEB UNS: Sabrina Najwa, Rahayu Trisnawati, and Soni Elenia, who presented their research at the international academic forum. Among them, Siti Maysarah earned the 2nd Best Paper Award, marking a noteworthy achievement for UNS.

Presenting an article entitled “Gender Diversity on Corporate Boards and ESG Controversies: A Sector-Sensitive Analysis of Women in Governance,” she highlights the relationship between gender diversity on corporate boards and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) controversies in Indonesia. Drawing upon the Upper Echelons Theory and Resource-Based View (RBV), the research examined four sensitive sectors: energy (PT Pertamina), mining (PT Adaro Energy), agribusiness (PT Astra Agro Lestari), and banking (Bank Rakyat Indonesia).

The study found that greater female representation on boards of directors correlates with a lower risk of ESG controversies. These findings align with the global sustainability agenda, particularly the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 5 (Gender Equality): strengthening women’s roles in strategic decision-making; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth): fostering inclusive corporate governance; SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production): reducing harmful business practices for society and the environment; and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions): promoting transparency and accountability in corporate governance.

“This achievement is tangible proof of the quality of students from the Digital Business Study Program, who are capable of competing on the international stage. We are proud that our students excel not only academically but also produce research that is relevant to global issues, particularly in supporting the SDGs agenda,” said Aldy Fariz Achsanta, Ph.D., Head of the Digital Business Study Program at FEB UNS. The participation of FEB UNS students in this conference received full support from the Student and Alumni Affairs Division, which consistently encourages the development of student potential, creativity, and achievements at both national and international levels.

ICMEM 2025 served as an international forum bringing together academics, practitioners, and researchers from various countries to discuss business and management challenges in emerging markets. This accomplishment further strengthens UNS’s commitment to producing research that is relevant to global challenges, inclusive, and sustainable.

This achievement not only brings glory to Universitas Sebelas Maret at the international level but also reflects the meaningful contribution of UNS’s academic community in supporting the achievement of the SDGs. By focusing on gender diversity and responsible corporate governance, this research is aligned with global efforts to promote gender equality (SDG 5), advance inclusive and sustainable economic growth (SDG 8), and ensure responsible business practices for the environment and society (SDG 12). Furthermore, the study reinforces UNS’s dedication to strengthening just and transparent institutions (SDG 16), which serve as a foundation for sustainable development.

Thus, this achievement illustrates how the advancement of knowledge at FEB UNS not only prioritizes academic excellence but also actively contributes to addressing global development agendas that are both urgent and essential for today’s world.

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), held a Workshop on the Integration of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM), Internship, and Community Service (KKN) on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at UNS Inn. The event was attended by Undergraduate Study Program Heads, Heads of Academic Subdivisions, Academic Staff and Operators, as well as the Personnel in Charge for the Internship at Study Program level. The workshop aims to build a common understanding and formulate guidelines for the implementation of internships and KKN within FEB UNS, in line with the latest policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.

In her opening remarks, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Vice Dean of Academic and Research Affairs, emphasized that internships are one of the key components of MBKM Program, yet varying interpretations and inconsistent information still remain. The shift in terminology and scheme, such as from “MBKM Internship” to “Impactful Internship,” requires adjustments in governance and policies both at the faculty and study program levels.

This initiative is a joint-effort undertaken by the Academic Affairs Division (Division 1) and the Student and Alumni Affairs Division (Third Division). In its presentation, the Division highlighted the importance of structuring mandatory internships, which apply generally to all study programs and must be reported to each program. On the other hand, there are also independently managed internships by students within the MBKM framework, now known as Impactful Internships.

“With this workshop, we hope to establish a common understanding among the faculties and study program administrators regarding the forms, procedures, and governance of internships and KKN. In addition, this activity also serves as a starting point for drafting internship implementation guidelines that align with the latest regulations,” said Prof. Tri.

It is important to understand that the current implementation of internships refers to Ministerial Regulation (Permendikbudristek) No. 63 of 2024 on the Implementation of Student Internships. FEB UNS, through Division 3, is committed to preparing and launching the Internship Handbook in the near future. One of the key discussions was the positioning and relationship between Mandatory Internships, MBKM Internships, and Impactful Internships within the curriculum structure and academic policies.

The discussion managed to establish that although terminology and implementation platforms have changed, both the MBKM Internships and Impactful Internships share similarities, particularly in providing opportunities for students to engage in off-campus activities for up to two semesters. Through this workshop, FEB UNS seeks to ensure that the future implementation of internships and KKN can be carried out in an integrated and effective manner, in accordance with student learning needs and the dynamics of national policies.

This workshop is also aligned with FEB UNS’s commitment to supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by strengthening curricula based on real-world and community experiences; SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), by preparing students with work readiness and skills relevant to industry needs; and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), by fostering collaboration between universities, businesses, government, and communities in the implementation of internships, KKN, and other MBKM programs.

With a more structured and impactful integration of MBKM, internships, and KKN, FEB UNS hopes to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also adaptive, collaborative, and capable of making tangible contributions to sustainable development at the local, national, and global levels.

The Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB) at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Sebelas Maret (FEB UNS), was conducted from 19 to 21 August 2025. A series of activities, both at the university and faculty level, were organized to welcome the new cohort. The materials covered included National Insights and State Defense, Academic Ethics and Integrity, Graduate Character, and others.

The opening of PKKMB FEB UNS took place at Djarwanto PS Hall on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, attended by the Dean Office, Heads of Study Programs, Head of Administrative Office, Heads of Subdivision, and all new students.

Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., conveyed three key messages in his address: the importance of ethics, building networks, and developing tolerance during the study period on campus. “I would like to remind you, your presence here is not solely due to your own efforts, but also because of the role of God Almighty and the prayers of your parents, especially your mother. A mother’s prayer is vital in your life journey,” said Prof. Bhimo.

He emphasized that students should never forget to honor their parents as a core foundation in pursuing education. In addition, he reminded them of the importance of respecting lecturers and all faculty staff. “As the young generation, ethics must be the primary foundation you hold firmly,” he stressed.

The Dean also encouraged students to actively build networks by joining student organizations. “Do not just go back and forth between home and class. Join at least one student organization, thus, you can expand your networking and do not live in isolation,” he urged.

Alongside ethics and networking, Prof. Bhimo highlighted the importance of tolerance and mutual respect. He explained that UNS provides five places of worship on campus as a tangible expression of its respect for diversity and pluralism. “Inclusivity and pluralism are hallmarks of UNS that we must uphold together,” he remarked.

Following his speech, Prof. Bhimo introduced the Vice Deans, Heads of Study Programs, the Head of Administrative Office, and Heads of Subdivision of FEB UNS.

The three key messages—ethics, networking, and tolerance—are aligned with the spirit of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ethics supports SDG 4 (Quality Education) by instilling strong character values. Networking contributes to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through the development of skills and career opportunities. Meanwhile, tolerance and respect for diversity reflect the values of SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions).

The Digital Business Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), in collaboration with the Indonesian Association of Digital Business Professionals and Educators (APBISDI), organized a Dissemination and In-Depth Workshop on the 2025 LAMEMBA Accreditation Instrument. The event took place on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the Ki Hadjar Dewantara Building, UNS Tower.

Attended by Digital Business Study Program administrator from various universities across Indonesia, the event featured speakers from the Executive Board of LAMEMBA (Institute of Accreditation for Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting Programs), Prof. Dr. Ina Primiana, S.E., M.T., and Dr. Ahyar Yuniawan, S.E., M.Si.

Also present on the occasion were Vice Rector for Planning, Partnership, Business, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D.; Vice Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs FEB UNS, Tastaftiyan Risfandy, S.E., M.Sc., Ph.D.; and Head of the Digital Business Study Program FEB UNS, Aldy Fariz Achsanta, S.E., M.Rech., Ph.D.

Dr. Mery Citra Sondari, S.E., M.Si., Chair of APBISDI, expressed optimism regarding the promising employment opportunities offered by Digital Business programs. She noted that several Digital Business programs have achieved commendable graduate absorption rates. “We must take advantage of and maintain these opportunities. It is important to ensure that the public does not perceive Digital Business programs as low quality. As a relatively new program, it requires our collective support, both in terms of academic development and industry linkage,” she said.

In line with this concern, she also emphasized that APBISDI’s national board places a strong focus on quality. APBISDI has conducted multiple socialization sessions, which will be followed by further workshops tailored to the distinctive nature of Digital Business programs. Additionally, APBISDI is committed to designing and launching various initiatives to advance its programs and agenda. This occasion is expected to deliver substantial benefits that can be implemented by each participating study program, particularly in preparing effective teaching and learning strategies in pursuit of excellent accreditation.

In his remarks, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho stated that although the Digital Business program is relatively new, it has quickly become one of the most competitive programs at UNS since it was first introduced through the SNBT student admission track in 2023. This, he said, reflects strong external market recognition of the program.

He also highlighted that the UNS Rector pays considerable attention to the Digital Business program. Despite being new, its high competitiveness prompted UNS to recruit additional lecturers. In 2025, three new lecturers were appointed, although the program requires six. “The human resources are outstanding—nearly all of the lecturers are young professionals with overseas academic backgrounds,” he added.

Concluding his remarks, Prof. Irwan urged all parties to continue strengthening the quality assurance system of the Digital Business program, noting that the market already has trust in its potential. The event, held from morning to late afternoon, featured dynamic discussions in which the speakers responded to various questions, concerns, and suggestions from participants.

Seven students from the Digital Business Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), provided hands-on assistance in digital content creation as a means of promoting products produced by micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) run by members of the Difabel Berdaya Solo community. This practical session, guided directly by students, was held after participants received a series of materials presented by representatives from Tokopedia.
The seven students were divided among five MSME groups and delivered training sessions focused on creating short, engaging videos designed to attract consumer interest. Several recommendations and tips were provided during the session for producing short-form video content to boost purchase intent.
First, participants were advised that the most critical time to grab a viewer’s attention is within the first 0-2 seconds by showcasing the product and adding a compelling phrase such as, “This stylish shirt for only 50K?” During the next 3-10 second, the video should highlight product details and demonstrate real-life usage. Each shot should emphasize a different unique selling point. In the final 10–15 seconds, it is advised to include a clear call-to-action (CTA), followed by a closing reminder of the product’s strengths. On-screen text are also encouraged to make the content more informative.
The MSME participants responded enthusiastically to the student-led training, showcasing a variety of products, including shirts, bags made from colorful stove wicks, snacks, and more.
This activity was organized by Tokopedia and ShopTokopedia in collaboration with the Berdaya Solo Community and FEB UNS, as part of the National Disability Day commemoration, which falls on December 3, 2024.
Established in 2020, the Difabel Berdaya Solo Community serves as a platform for individuals with disabilities to engage in creative and entrepreneurial activities. It currently has hundreds of members across the Greater Solo area, many of whom run their own MSMEs.
The community leader, Sri Hartatik, mentioned that past training sessions have typically been temporary and periodical. A platform for continuous learning has yet to be established, resulting in limited knowledge retention among participants. She expressed hope for more sustainable mentoring and ongoing support in the future.
