The ceremonial cutting of the tumpeng (traditional yellow rice cone) by the Dean of FEB UNS symbolized the official inauguration of the study program, witnessed by the academic community, institutional partners, high-school representatives, and various stakeholders in the field of Islamic economics.

The Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, expressed his gratitude and appreciation in his welcoming remarks for the extensive support from multiple parties throughout the establishment process of the Islamic Economics and Finance Study Program. He emphasized that the inception of this study program is the culmination of a long-standing journey and cross-generational collaboration within FEB UNS.

“The success of this launching is a continuous process of initiatives pioneered long ago by senior deans and the founders of this study program. We are just continuing and implementing the aspirations that were built by our predecessors,” he stated.

Furthermore, he extended his appreciation to the FEB UNS former Deans of FEB UNS as his senior, the task force overseeing the new study program establishment, faculty members, and various institutions that supported the legal progression up to the program’s official inauguration. Further, he acknowledges external supports from key partners, including Bank Indonesia, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and other Islamic financial institutions.

According to the Dean, the establishment of the Islamic Economics and Finance Study Program represents an integration and collaboration between internal academic elements and external stakeholders to advance Islamic economic education that remains relevant to societal needs.

“We hope this study program can keep advancing and fulfil public expectations. The presence of this program is also expected to foster new collaborative tools with high schools and partners to strengthen Islamic economics and financial literacy,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Planning, Partnership, Internationalization, and Information Affairs UNS, Prof. Irwan Trinugroho, remarked that the establishment of the Islamic Economics and Finance Program is the result of extensive efforts involving numerous parties since the initial planning phases. He recounted the development process initiated by the senior deans of FEB UNS through the development of human resource, including sponsoring faculty members to pursue advanced studies in the field of Islamic economics.

“We are grateful to have visionary founders for initiating and preparing for the establishment of this study program from the very beginning. Praise be to God, it has now been achieved and officially launched,” he said.

Prof. Irwan also announced that the Islamic Economics and Finance Study Program is currently accepting new student applications via the independent selection pathway (Jalur Mandiri) until June 2, 2026, with an intake capacity of 60 students for its inaugural year.

He noted that the program possesses immense potential, supported by highly qualified academic staff, adequate learning facilities, and a dedicated building funded through the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH) welfare program grant. “This study program becomes one of the new study programs at UNS that, prior to its official launch, already have its own building and comprehensive supporting facilities. The support extended to this program has been extraordinary,” he explained.

The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), organized an online academic counseling and mentoring session on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, for undergraduate students from the cohorts of 2019, 2020, and 2021 who are approaching their maximum study limits or experiencing difficulties completing their degrees. The session commenced with an introductory address by the Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs of FEB UNS, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih.

In her remarks, Prof. Tri emphasized that this initiative reflects the faculty’s dedicated commitment to ensuring students can successfully conclude their higher education. “The purpose of this gathering is a form of care provided by the faculty. We ultimately want the absolute best for all of you so that you can successfully complete your studies,” she stated.

Prof. Tri further detailed that the invited participants comprised students from the 2019 cohort entering their seventh year, the 2020 cohort entering their sixth year, and the 2021 cohort entering their fifth year of study. Through this forum, the faculty aimed to directly hear the diverse challenges encountered by the students and collaboratively formulate effective solutions.

Furthermore, Prof. Tri highlighted the critical importance of understanding academic regulations and maintaining active student status through mandatory semester registration. She noted that FEB UNS has published the 2025 Academic Guidelines, which are accessible via the official FEB UNS website tailored to each respective study program. “Should there be financial constraints regarding the tuition fee (UKT) payment, the university provides mechanisms to apply for financial relief. However, administrative registration must still be completed to ensure your student status remains active,” she explained.

In addition, students were briefed on the official mechanisms for academic leave, thesis completion, internships, as well as withdrawal procedures as a last resort for those facing critical time constraints.

Nevertheless, Prof. Tri strongly encouraged students to persevere in completing their degrees, particularly those who have already reached the final thesis writing stage. “For those who only have their undergraduate thesis remaining, we sincerely hope you will strive to cross the finish line, as you are just one step away,” she urged.

Following the main plenary session, the event proceeded into breakout rooms managed by the respective Heads of Study Programs. During these breakout sessions, students engaged in detailed discussions regarding academic obstacles, progress updates, and strategic measures to accelerate their graduation. Through this monitoring and evaluation initiative, FEB UNS aims to facilitate students in graduating punctually while strengthening the communication channels between the faculty, study programs, and students. This activity aligns with FEB UNS’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), by providing inclusive and sustainable higher education support services.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), organized an International Seminar entitled “AACSB Accreditation and Quality Assurance” on Monday, May 25, 2026, at UNS Inn. The event was conducted in a hybrid format, inviting virtual speakers from Universiti Putra Malaysia, while the on-site proceedings were attended by the faculty leaders, heads of study programs, lecturers, administrative staff, and various stakeholders involved in developing higher education quality assurance within FEB UNS.

This international seminar represents one of FEB UNS’s strategic initiatives to reinforce its institutional quality assurance system while supporting the progression toward international accreditation from the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The AACSB is recognized as one of the most prestigious business accreditation bodies globally, evaluating the quality of educational institutions based on international standards in governance, learning, research, institutional impact, and human resource development.

Through this agenda, FEB UNS aims to cultivate a comprehensive understanding regarding the implementation of effective and sustainable quality assurance in both academic and non-academic sectors. The seminar also served as a forum for discussion to share experiences, strategies, and best practices in addressing the challenges of international accreditation within an increasingly competitive and globalized higher education landscape.

Tastafiyan Risfandy, SE., MSc., Ph.D., Vice Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs FEB UNS, expressed his appreciation in his welcoming remarks to all parties who supported the preparation of the international seminar. He emphasized that fostering a robust culture of quality is an essential foundation for developing a higher education institution that is both excellent and adaptive to global transformations.

“Thank you for attending this seminar, and for the support of all parties who have facilitated the implementation of this event. This seminar serves as a pivotal momentum for FEB UNS to continuously learn and reinforce institutional quality in meeting international accreditation standards,” he stated.

Furthermore, he explained that quality assurance serves more than accreditation documentation; rather, it reflects an institutional commitment to creating an educational framework that is high-quality, transparent, accountable, and oriented toward continuous improvement.

“We hope that through this activity, FEB UNS can acquire diverse insights and strategic inputs regarding the preparation toward AACSB Accreditation and quality assurance to support sustainable academic and non-academic quality enhancement,” he explained.

During the seminar, participants gained multi-dimensional perspectives on the importance of sound institutional governance, the enhancement of outcome-based curricula, the advancement of research quality and scientific publications, the competency development of faculty and administrative staff, and the vital role of international collaboration in bolstering global university competitiveness.

Aside from it’s main objective as a platform for institutional capacity building, this international seminar reaffirms FEB UNS’s commitment to creating an innovative, inclusive, and globally-oriented higher education ecosystem. The pursuit of AACSB accreditation is expected to elevate the faculty’s international reputation while unlocking broader opportunities for collaboration with global educational institutions and industries.

Through this seminar, FEB UNS envisions the continuous reinforcement of a quality-driven culture within the university environment, driving sustainable improvements in educational services, and producing graduates who are competent, adaptive, and globally competitive.

This initiative also constitutes part of FEB UNS’s contribution toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 16 (Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions), by fostering strong, effective, transparent, and accountable institutional frameworks.
