Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), welcomed a benchmarking visit from the Accounting Study Program of Campus UNESA 5, Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA), on Thursday, 22 January 2026. The visit took place at the Fiscal Corner Room, Soeharno TS Building, FEB UNS. The activity aimed to strengthen academic governance, enhance study program quality, and expand institutional networks and collaboration among higher education institutions.

The UNESA delegation was received directly by the Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. The benchmarking session was attended by the leadership team of FEB UNS and faculty members from the Accounting Study Program FEB UNS.

In his remarks, Prof. Bhimo stated that the benchmarking visit represented a valuable momentum, particularly in light of the development and opening of new study programs at FEB UNS. He emphasized that differences in institutional character and academic orientation should be viewed as complementary strengths rather than barriers.

“When we received the letter from UNESA, we had just opened a new study program. I believe this is a valuable opportunity. Although our institutional bases differ, where UNESA has a strong foundation in education, this is precisely where we can learn a great deal, particularly in teaching practices,” he explained.

Conversely, FEB UNS is equally open to sharing best practices in academic governance and study program development.

Prof. Bhimo also noted that collaboration could be implemented gradually, either partially or at the study program level. Potential areas for cooperation include the management of scientific journals, the development of international classes, and the implementation of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) schemes.

In the subsequent session, the Head of the Undergraduate Accounting Study Program at FEB UNS, Prof. Doddy Setiawan, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., delivered a comprehensive presentation on the profile and management of the Accounting Study Program. His presentation covered curriculum structure, learning systems, academic governance, as well as various innovations and development initiatives undertaken by the program. The session facilitated an interactive discussion and exchange of best practices between FEB UNS and the Undergraduate Accounting Study Program of UNESA.

Through this benchmarking activity, both institutions are expected to foster sustained synergy and collaboration in enhancing the quality of higher education, particularly in the field of accounting.

This initiative also supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through strengthened academic quality and inter-institutional collaboration in higher education.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), held a Virtual Dissemination and Coordination Meeting on the Center for Research and Community Engagement Development (P4M) 2026 Activities, Monday (12/1/2025) via Zoom Meeting.

Attended by FEB UNS academic staff, the activity aimed to align P4M programs and activities with the UNS 2026 Performance Agreement, reaffirming research policies and standards—particularly those related to ethical clearance—build a collaborative, integrity-based, and sustainable research ecosystem, and disseminate information on research development opportunities and capacity building for lecturers.

In line with the UNS Performance Agreement for 2026, Dila Maghrifani, S.E., B.Sc., M.Sc., Ph.D., Chair of P4M, explained that the policy direction and strategic priorities of P4M UNS for 2026 focus on four main targets: increasing internationally reputable publications, particularly Q1 journals; strengthening international research collaboration; contributing meaningfully to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDGs 1, 4, and 17; and developing lecturers’ competencies and capacities through upskilling and upgrading programs.

Moreover, P4M UNS introduced a new Key Performance Indicator (KPI) that specifically targets scientific publications with themes related to Javanese culture, reflecting UNS’s commitment to preserving local cultural values through academic work.

In reviewing achievements from the previous year, Dila Maghrifani noted that the quality of FEB UNS lecturers’ publications in 2025 showed a positive trend at the Q1 and Q2 levels. Nevertheless, publication output declined in terms of quantity. Accordingly, lecturers were encouraged to strengthen collaborative research across Research Groups (RGs) and disciplines, pursue larger-scale research grants, and update their research roadmaps to ensure alignment with strategic issues and SDG targets.

Research ethics and integrity constituted a key focus of the dissemination, where she stressed that Ethical Clearance (EC) is a mandatory requirement for all research involving human subjects, the use of personal or sensitive data, as well as social, behavioral, and experimental studies. Research without valid Ethical Clearance cannot be processed further, particularly for publication in internationally reputable journals.

She also clarifies that P4M does not have the authority to issue Ethical Clearance. Lecturers are therefore directed to submit EC applications through the UNS Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Ethics Committee for social and humanities research, or through the UNS Faculty of Medicine Ethics Committee for non-social sciences, health-related, and experimental research. In this context, P4M plays a role in policy dissemination, administrative assistance, and encouraging compliance with research ethics.

On the same occasion, P4M also disseminated three new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by LPPM UNS—SOP 001, SOP 002, and SOP 003—concerning the prevention of lecturers’ academic integrity violations. These SOPs comprehensively regulate mechanisms for preventing and reporting misconduct in scholarly outputs, establishment of a transparent and accountable reporting systems for alleged violations, as well as procedures for examination and determination of violation levels with proportionate sanctions.

Through this activity, FEB UNS reaffirmed its commitment to building a collaborative, integrity-based, and sustainable research ecosystem, while strengthening the institution’s contribution to the advancement of knowledge, community engagement, and academic reputation at both national and international levels.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), holds a Learning Management System (LMS) Workshop to support Teaching and Learning Process (PBM), attended by FEB UNS lecturers, on Monday, 29 December 2025, at UNS Tower. This event is organized as part of efforts to improve the quality of digital-based learning at FEB UNS.

The Vice Dean for Academic and Research Affairs of FEB UNS, Prof. Tri Mulyaningsih, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., in her opening remarks emphasizes the importance of implementing the Learning Management System (LMS) as a key strategy to support the achievement of UNS Key Performance Indicators (IKU). Prof. Tri explains that although various terms are commonly used in digital learning practices, such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), the official use of the term LMS at FEB UNS aligns with provisions stipulated in the Rector’s Regulation.

The LMS is regarded as an integrated digital platform that not only supports the delivery of course materials but also facilitates class administration, synchronous and asynchronous communication between lecturers and students, as well as learning assessment processes. Furthermore, Prof. Tri encourages lecturers not to focus solely on meeting administrative targets in LMS utilization, but to use it as a medium for instructional innovation. According to her, effective use of the LMS can assist lecturers in creating learning processes that are more interactive, diverse, and engaging for students.

In her presentation, she also highlights the importance of lecturer creativity and an understanding of pedagogical theory in addressing learning challenges in the digital era, including distractions related to mobile phone use in the classroom. Lecturers are expected to design learning strategies that promote active student engagement to maintain focus and sustained attention to the learning materials.

The workshop also presents examples of good practices in LMS utilization, management of online courses, and opportunities for the development of digital-based learning, including the expansion of online learning through micro-credential schemes. With optimal LMS support, FEB UNS reaffirms its commitment to continuously improve the quality of the teaching and learning process in ways that respond to technological developments and student needs. Through this activity, FEB UNS expects lecturers to become increasingly prepared and competent in integrating digital technology into instruction, while contributing to the improvement of sustainable higher education quality.

This workshop aligns with the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the improvement of digital-based learning quality, as well as SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) by encouraging the use of information technology in higher education.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), held a Workshop on Public Financial Management: Central and Regional Government Synergy toward Inclusive Economic Growth on Monday, 22 December 2025. The activity was conducted in person at UNS Inn and attended by academics, practitioners, and representatives of central and regional government institutions.

The workshop featured Afina Azizah from the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) and Slamet, Head of the Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) of Central Java Province, as keynote speakers. The forum aimed to serve as a strategic discussion platform to strengthen public and regional financial management in support of inclusive and sustainable economic growth.

In his opening remarks, the Dean of FEB UNS, Prof. Bhimo Rizky Samudro, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., stated that the workshop was designed for knowledge exchange between academics and practitioner partners with extensive experience in public finance management. The discussion focused on inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the context of national development dynamics, including policy implications and disaster-related considerations from multiple perspectives, such as risk mitigation and economic equity.

Beyond technical discussions, the workshop also served as a dissemination forum for the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) program for practitioner partners, particularly from regional planning agencies such as Bappeda, who intend to pursue further study in the Master of Development Economics or Master of Accounting programs at FEB UNS. “Through active collaboration, this initiative is expected to generate dual benefits in the form of strengthened practical competence and sustained academic development opportunities for professionals,” he noted.

Afina emphasized that achieving national development targets toward Indonesia Emas 2045 requires strong synergy between central and regional governments. She highlighted that regions function as key drivers of inclusive and sustainable economic growth, making alignment of development paradigms a critical challenge.

She further explained that the government has established eight national priority programs in the 2026 Government Work Plan, including food and energy security, free nutritious meals, and the strengthening of cooperatives and investment. Alignment between central and regional levels is pursued through the synchronization of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and Regional Medium-Term Development Plans (RPJMD) for the 2025–2029 period, with performance indicators currently reaching 77 percent. Clear planning loci and concrete budget support were identified as essential to ensure tangible policy impacts on society.

Afina also noted a shift in the development paradigm from a focus on physical outputs to outcomes that deliver measurable benefits for public welfare. This shift calls for improved expenditure quality amid limited fiscal space and mandatory spending obligations. Consistency across planning, budgeting, and control processes must be jointly safeguarded through close coordination between Bappenas and Bappeda, as well as the Ministry of Finance and BPKAD.

Meanwhile, Slamet explained that the primary challenge in regional development lies not in planning, but in the disconnect between planning and implementation within the regional budget framework (APBD). Many strategic programs fail at the execution stage due to concerns among regional officials regarding administrative accountability, technical reporting requirements, and limited legal frameworks at the regional level.

He also highlighted that inflation control practices at the regional level remain short-term in nature and have yet to address supply-side fundamentals. Regions, he argued, should be encouraged to adopt expenditure schemes in the form of subsidies through regionally owned enterprises to enable more effective and sustained market price interventions. However, regulatory gaps between central and regional authorities often constrain innovation due to concerns over potential findings of state financial losses.

According to him, regional financial management must be supervised through to the technical stages of implementation and accountability, supported by a robust legal framework to ensure that development programs deliver concrete benefits to society.

Through this workshop, FEB UNS expects to strengthen shared understanding, collaboration, and consistency between planning and budgeting at both central and regional levels, in support of inclusive and sustainable economic development. The activity aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through the reinforcement of policy synergy and sustainable financial governance.

Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS), conducted a Training and Simulation for Fire Mitigation and Disaster Response on Wednesday, 31 December 2025, at the courtyard of the Bachtiar Effendi Building, FEB UNS. The activity was attended by the FEB UNS academic community, including Academic Support Staff and students.

Mitigation refers to measures taken to reduce or control risks and adverse impacts arising from hazardous events, including fires. In the context of fire incidents and accidents, mitigation includes preventive and response actions such as the provision of safe evacuation routes, installation of smoke detection devices, training in the use of fire extinguishers (APAR), and understanding emergency procedures.

The Vice Dean for Non-Academic Affairs FEB UNS, Sutaryo, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D., Ak., CA., CRA., CRP., ACPA., stated that the activity formed part of the fulfilment of Occupational Health and Safety (K3) documentation, as well as a concrete application of risk management within the FEB UNS environment.

“This training and simulation serve as a preventive measure in anticipating potential disasters. While we do not expect such events to occur, we aim to ensure that FEB UNS is prepared in terms of human resources as well as supporting facilities and infrastructure,” he explained.

He also expressed appreciation for the strong participation and support of all attendees. According to him, creating a safe and disaster-responsive faculty environment is a shared responsibility of the entire academic community.

During the training, participants received instruction on fire prevention, basic fire suppression techniques, proper use of fire extinguishers, and emergency actions needed in the event of a fire. Instructors also explained methods of isolating fire from oxygen, including traditional techniques using burlap sacks, towels, or non-synthetic fabrics.

“If a small fire occurs, take a burlap sack, towel, or cloth nearby, soak it with water, and cover the fire. Pay attention to wind direction and position yourself opposite the fire. Once you move forward, do not hesitate or step back, as the fire may follow the movement of the cloth,” an instructor explained during the practical session.

Participants were also provided with guidance on handling household gas leaks, including avoiding switching electrical devices on or off to prevent sparks, opening doors and windows to allow air circulation, and removing the regulator before moving the gas cylinder outdoors until conditions are safe.

The instructor emphasized that maintaining calmness is the most critical response during a fire incident. “Fire accidents often escalate due to panic.
